  23. 1. WORD TRANSLATOR FOR WINDOWS SHAREWARE VERSION

  25. This shareware version of Word Translator for Windows may be freely 
  26. copied and distributed to whomever you choose. However, please 
  27. understand that the software is owned by and is the intellectual 
  28. property of Translation Experts Limited. Word Translator for Windows 
  29. is copyright ⌐1990-1995 Translation Experts Limited. All rights 
  30. reserved. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, 
  31. adapt, translate or otherwise create derivative software programs 
  32. from this shareware version of the Word Translator program nor any 
  33. of its associated files.

  35. To order a registered version, open the "INFO.WRI" file by double-
  36. clicking on the "Product & Ordering Information" icon in the Word 
  37. Translator PROGRAM GROUP window that is created AFTER Word Translator 
  38. for Windows is installed or double-click on the INFO.WRI file name 
  39. in your File Manager window.

  42. 2. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SHAREWARE & REGISTERED VERSIONS

  44. This shareware version of Word Translator for Windows accomplishes 
  45. ALL of the functions the registered version does. However, registered 
  46. versions contain "paired" or "coupled" bilingual dictionary modules 
  47. with SUBSTANTIALLY more "base word" and phrase entries, for some 
  48. languages, over 128,000 combined entries in both "paired" dictionary 
  49. modules versus the +/- 5,000 contained in shareware versions.

  51. Most registered versions also contain a Grammar help file and, for 
  52. Russian, Serbian Cyrillic, Polish and Croatian dictionary modules, 
  53. pre-made and installed ".cpc" files (Code Page conversion tables) 
  54. that will, for example, convert Code Page 866 text to Code Page 1251 
  55. or Code Page 852 text to Code Page 1250.

  57. The "paired" or "coupled" bilingual dictionaries provided with 
  58. shareware versions of Word Translator for Windows are a random 
  59. compilation of "base words" and phrases (together with their associated 
  60. translations) taken from the largest dictionary module available for 
  61. the specific language. They are only intended to provide a sampling 
  62. of the entries contained in the dictionary modules provided with 
  63. registered versions. They are not intended to be all inclusive.

  65. Because the quality of the results obtained from Word Translator's 
  66. Spell-Checking, Prediction & Spell-Checking, "standard" (interactive) 
  67. Document Translation and (automatic) Quick Document Translation modes 
  68. are directly dependent upon the size of the dictionary employed, the 
  69. larger dictionary modules provided with registered versions of Word 
  70. Translator for Windows are substantially more helpful when used with 
  71. these features.

  74. Translator for Windows to friends, relatives, associates and/or others 
  75. who may be interested in evaluating the program. But if you use the 
  76. program for more than thirty days, we ask that you please register

  87. print-out any individual page (including the order forms) or the entire

  110. Word Translator for Windows is the bilingual, bi-directional word/phrase 
  111. dictionary and translation program used all over the world for teaching, 
  112. learning and working with languages. With it, you can quickly and easily 
  113. translate individual words and phrases or even complete documents 
  114. word-by-word and phrase-by-phrase from English to another language or 
  115. from another language to English. Word Translator for Windows uses the

  223. To allow you to both successfully install and use this shareware 
  224. version of Word Translator for Windows, your computer must be an 
  225. IBM-PC/XT/AT, or be 100% IBM compatible (or an "IBM clone") and have:

  228. > A hard disk with approximately 1 MB of free space
  229. > A mouse is highly recommended
  230. > A printer supported by Windows 3.1 or later
  231. > Use of one of the major Windows word processing programs--
  232.   Word for Windows, WordPerfect for Windows or AmiPro (purchased 
  233.   separately) is highly recommended and REQUIRED for Russian, Serbian
  234.   Cyrillic and Polish dictionary modules.

  237. 5. ".EXE" FILES INCLUDED WITH RUSSIAN, SERBIAN CYRILLIC, POLISH, 
  238.    CROATIAN AND SERBIAN LATIN VERSIONS
  239.  
  240. Russian, Serbian Cyrillic, Polish, Croatian and Serbian Latin dictionary 
  241. versions install a CODE.EXE or CODE_KBD.EXE file in the "default" WINTRAN 
  242. directory. This CODE.EXE or CODE_KBD.EXE file will extract a file named 
  243. CODE.WRI or CODE_KBD.WRI (in Windows Write format) that contains pictures 
  244. of EITHER the three parts of the Windows Cyrillic or East European Code 
  245. Page (IBM Code Page 1251 or IBM Code Page 1250) that you may print just 
  246. as you would print any other ".WRI" file and use as a reference. The 
  247. CODE_KBD.EXE file installed with Polish, Croatian and Serbian Latin and 
  248. Serbian Cyrillic versions will also contain alternative keyboard layouts 
  249. that you may want to use as a reference to change the keyboard layout.

  251. Russian versions also contain PHONETIC.EXE, RUS_FED.EXE and AATSEEL.EXE 
  252. files that are installed in the "default" WINTRAN directory. The extracted 
  253. PHONETIC.EXE, RUS_FED.EXE and AATSEEL.EXE files ALL create RUSENG.KBD and 
  254. ENGRUS.KBD files which, in turn, (when copied to your WINTRAN directory 
  255. to REPLACE (overwrite) existing files of the SAME NAME) will change your 
  256. Russian Keyboard Layout to either the PHONETIC/HOMOPHONIC, RUSSIAN 
  257. FEDERATION or AATSEEL (American Association of Teachers of Slavic and 
  258. East European Languages) Keyboard Layout.

  261. 6. EXTRACTING FILES FROM AN ".EXE" FILE
  262.  
  263. Go to File Manager and find the "default" WINTRAN directory. Locate
  264. the ???.EXE file you wish to extract and double-click DIRECTLY 
  265. on the ???.EXE file name in your Windows File Manager window -- OR -- 
  266. From the C:\> prompt, type CD space and the name of the directory 
  267. containing the ???.EXE file (WINTRAN) and press the <enter> key. At 
  268. the C:\WINTRAN> prompt, type the name of the ???.EXE file (e.g. 
  269. CODE.EXE) and press the <enter> key. The ???.EXE file will self-extract 
  270. on to your hard disk in the WINTRAN directory containing the ???.EXE 
  271. file. With the PHONETIC.EXE, RUS_FED.EXE and AATSEEL.EXE files, you
  272. will be prompted to type y (for yes) or n (for no) to OVERWRITE
  273. existing files of the SAME name. To change to a different keyboard, 
  274. type y (for yes).

  326. 8. INSTALLING WORD TRANSLATOR FROM INSIDE WINDOWS

  328. A. Insert the Word Translator for Windows Shareware disk into your 
  329.    A (or B) drive and open Windows.
  330. B. Choose RUN from the Windows Program Manager FILE menu. A COMMAND
  331.    LINE window will appear.
  332. C. For the COMMAND LINE type: a:\setup (or b:\setup) and press
  333.    the <enter> key.
  334. D. Carefully follow the on-screen installation instructions.
  335. E. Installing Word Translator for Windows will create a new 
  336.    Word Translator program group window containing a Word
  337.    Translator icon, Word Translator Manual icon, Product & Ordering
  338.    Information icon, Read Me icon and--with Russian, Polish, Croatian
